A man who allegedly assaulted a fellow imbiber simply because he had refused to let him sit on his lap has been taken to court.
Zivanai Malunga, 29, of Eastview, appeared before magistrate Apolonia Marutya charged with assault.
He will appear in court today for bail application.
The complainant in this matter is Priviledge Zinyengere, 40.
The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that on March 22, at around 0000 hours Malunga and Zinyengere were drinking beer at Chareka Shops, Eastview Phase 8.
Malunga denied assaulting the complainant.
Zinyengere was about to go home when Malunga went to where he was seated and sat on his lap.
When he asked why Malunga was doing that, it is alleged that Malunga started beating him all over the body.
The court heard that Malunga pulled Zinyengere outside the beerhall and continued the assault until other people intervened and he fled.
The complainant suffered a swollen face, shaking teeth and internal pains.
