The trial of former Harare mayor, Hebert Gomba and two others has been set for April 24, in a case they stand accused of criminal abuse of duty.
It is reported that the former mayor, together with former Harare employees Samuel Nyabezi and Munyaradzi Bowa, allocated State land belonging to Youth in Business Housing Trust, to a housing consortium, Taringana Housing Consortium, with their office influence taking centre stage in the allocation.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority said that the date for the judgment on the case has been set for April 24, where the accused are believed to have prejudiced the State of 381 stands.
“Judgment has been set for the 24th of April 2024 in the case where former mayor of Harare, Hebert Gomba together with Samuel Nyabezi and Munyaradzi Bowa are appearing before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts on allegations of criminal abuse of duty.
“The accused persons’ actions prejudiced the state of 381 stands valued at US$135 380,” NPAZ said.
