Mathematics has been scrapped from nurse training qualification requirements, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has confirmed.

Past training had mathematics as a prerequisite requirement together with Science and English language, but the ministry has scrapped the subject from qualification requirements for this year’s training intake.

In an advert in the press, the ministry said applicants for this year’s intake are to meet the April 21 deadline, with minimum requirements of 5 ‘O’ level subjects with passes in English language and science subject listed.

“A minimum of 5 ‘O’ level subjects with passes in English language and a science subject and three others (excluding practical subjects which are fashion and fabrics, metal work, graphic art, and woodwork) at Grade C or better obtained at not more than two sittings with full certificates as examination result slips are not accepted,” the Ministry posted in an advert.

The ministry also added that age requirements should be applicants not younger than 17 years or older than 30 years, with applicants required to drop their application letters at their nearest general nurse training schools.
