A 40-year-old man, who tried to rape a 50-year-old woman but failed after facing serious resistance from her, has been taken to court.
Clayton Domingo, 40, of Ushewekunze, Waterfalls, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with attempted rape.
He was remanded in custody.
The complainant is the 50-year-old woman.
The State alleges that on April 5, at around 2000 hours, Domingo called the complainant to the house that he was safekeeping so that she could see the tomatoes he was selling.
After she got there, Domingo allegedly dragged her into the house and she fell down because the floor was slippery.
He then grabbed her on the neck and told her he wanted to have sex with her but she refused.
It is alleged that Domingo grabbed the complainant’s pant, intending to rape her.
The court heard that the complainant held Domingo’s private parts firmly before the could pull out his manhood.
It is alleged that Domingo felt pain and as a result picked a hoe and hit the complainant thrice on the head and once on the shoulder and she started bleeding.
