Man threatens victim with knife, robs him of Samsung A14 phone in central Harare

A man from Msasa Park, Harare, who stole a cellphone after threatening the victim with a knife, has been taken to court.

James Makina appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with robbery.

He was remanded in custody to April 23.

The complainant in this matter Ray Bamala, 32.

The State alleges that on April 19, 2023, at around 1915 hours, Bamala was walking along Jason Moyo Avenue while using his Samsung A14 phone.

When he reached Third Street, he was approached by Makina who was holding a knife.

It is alleged that Makina attempted to stab him on the chest and at the same time grabbed Bamala's phone and ran away.

Bamala chased after Makina and managed to apprehend him and recovered his phone.

The phone was smashed in the process of recovery.

The value of the phone was US$200.
