One of the suspects in the robbery of US$22 000 from Veterinary Distributors Company has been taken to court.

Nickson Muzika, of Nyabira, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with robbery.

He will appear in court on May 17.

The State alleges that on April 20, at around 0930 hours, Muzika and accomplices, who have already been arrested, robbed the complainants in this matter, Tendai Chinhoro and Blessed Kamala, who are employed by Veterinary Distributors Company as auditors.

The two complainants were using a company car, a Mazda BT50, driven by John  Kapfunye the company’s driver.

Kapfunye was assigned by his superiors to go and ferry Chinhoro and Kamala to Borrowdale and Westgate where they collected the company’s money.

The court heard that when they arrived at the intersection of Harare Drive and Ashdown Drive, Harare, Chipfunye slowed down to give a chance to a Toyota Passo which did not have any registration plates and was being driven by Muzika.

The Toyota Passo reportedly blocked Chipfunye’s way.

It is alleged that Muzika and his accomplices, two of them wearing police uniforms, produced two pistols and pointed them at the two complainants, demanding money.

The court heard that they also assaulted them with open hands several times on their faces and stole US$22 000.
