Masvingo magistrate, Vimbai Mutukwa has sentenced a Mwenezi man to 20 years’ imprisonment for raping his 15-year-old biological daughter.
The 36-year-old man, who hails from Chief Mazetese’s area will effectively serve 18 years after Mutukwa conditionally suspended two years of the sentence.
The man, who had been staying with his daughter since 2015 when he divorced his wife, was found guilty after a full trial, despite his plea of innocence.
The court heard that on February 11 this year, the man raped his daughter after threatening to whip her.
He then threatened her against disclosing the matter to anyone.
The abuse continued until the girl narrated the ordeal to her mother, who accompanied her to file a police report, leading to the man’s arrest.
