Robbers force-march shop owners, steal US$30 000

Three unidentified armed robbers stormed the residence of two shop owners before forcing them to their shop at Chakohwa Business Centre in Chimanimani, where they got away with US$30 000.

In a statement, police said the suspects had firearms when they broke into the victims’ cottage where they physically attacked them.

“Police in Chimanimani are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at Chakohwa Business Centre, Chimanimani in which three unidentified male suspects who were armed with firearms broke into a cottage and attacked two occupants.

“The suspects force marched one of the victims to a shop where they stole US$30 000,” police said.

Meanwhile, in another robbery incident in Borrowdale West, seven armed robbers attacked a security guard on duty before proceeding to break into the house where they also attacked the occupant.

Police say the robbers stole seven cellphones and a laptop before fleeing the scene in the victim’s Toyota Hilux vehicle.

“The suspects ransacked the house and stole seven cellphones and a laptop before loading the loot into the victim’s white Toyota Hilux vehicle registration number AGA 8344 and drove away,” police added.
