Residents of the sprawling suburb of St Mary’s will have another feel of the epic nyau dance clash when Zambezi Nyau Club host Shamva-based Mingchung in the second leg of the clash at Katanga Beerhall tomorrow.

This comes as last weekend’s clash at the same venue did not produce a clear winner.

In an interview with Zim Now Zambezi Nyau Club frontman, Dinnas Kamushinda said they are urging their fans to come and support them.

“We urge our fans to come in their numbers and cheer on our crew. We mean business this time around, and we will emerge winners. We are prepared for the clash,” he said.

Kamushinda added that nyau dance is actually on the rise after suffering a dip at some point, especially during the Covid-19 era.

“Nyau dance is actually on the rise and we are trying to push it even further. We expect that very soon it would have grown even bigger, beyond people’s expectations.

“We are appealing to our fans to support us so that the dance continues to grow. When we charge US$1, we are only saying support us. We are appealing to those who have the means to support us with transport, meals and refreshments, especially for our visitors. This will only make nyau dance bigger and better.

“On our part as Zambezi Nyau Club, we will not relent, we will continue to bring in more and more competitive sides to keep you entertained,” said Kamushinda.

Katanga Beerhall has of late become popular with the nyau dance with outfits from several towns visiting.

Zambezi Nyau Club, fronted by Dinnas Kamushinda, has a number of adept dancers who have shown their dancing clout in the act.

Kamushinda, who is also an adept mbira player added that Zambezi Nyau Club, who marked their seventh anniversary last year, can compete with any group.

“We expect to win the contest because we pride ourselves with our team which is buoyed by the exploits of Boss Kedha, Destroyer, Officer, Yeke Yeke, MaDeMbare and Sauro.”

In a previous interview with Zim Now, Kamushinda said that the nyau dance culture is secretive and fans are not supposed to know who the dancers are during a performance.
