In by-elections held yesterday, Zanu PF candidates, Gorge Mashavave and Kiven Mutimbanyoka won the Mt Pleasant and Harare East by-elections respectively.
The two await swearing-in as national Assembly members for the two constituencies.
According to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, Mashavave garnered 3 205 votes, beating independent candidates Naison Mamuse and Brian Ticky, who had 945 and 220 votes each, respectively.
In Harare East, Cde Kiven Mutimbanyoka of Zanu PF got 3 533 votes while his challenger Ropafadzo Cynthia Cheza, who was standing as an independent, got 1 974 votes.
The two seats fell vacant following the resignation of Fadzai Mahere and Rusty Markham from the Citizens Coalition for Change in solidarity with former party leader Nelson Chamisa, who left the opposition outfit alleging infiltration.
