The beat pulsed through the heart of Mbare on Saturday afternoon as the Lion Lager Bash roared to life. Thousands thronged Stoddart shops, their energy echoing the iconic lion’s call, ready to celebrate the vibrant township’s rich musical heritage.
Leading the charge was the legendary Chillspot crew, fronted by the electrifying DJ Fantan. Levels and Ribhe, renowned for their infectious beats and captivating lyrics, kept the revellers on their feet with a relentless barrage of chart-topping tunes. The energy was palpable, a testament to the enduring power of Zimdancehall.
The celebration wasn’t just about established names. Chillspot records, a factory of Zimdancehall talent, unveiled a rising star – Rody. He graced the stage with an undeniable presence, his performance leaving the crowd hungry for more.
Culture Love wasn’t just another name on the line-up. He owned the VIP section with his energetic and enthralling performance. His charisma radiated outwards, ensuring everyone present felt the power of his music.
The Lion Lager Bash wasn’t just about music. It began with a vital cause – a clean-up campaign conducted in collaboration with Delta Corporation’s Make A Difference initiative, the City of Harare, and the Environmental Management Agency. This spirit of community engagement resonated deeply with the Mbare residents.
As the last beats faded, a collective sigh of satisfaction filled the air. “We are so grateful to Lion Lager for giving us a festival atmosphere here in Mbare,” shared Emmanuel Kambalami, a resident.
“Indeed, we are the home of Zimdancehall, and we proved it today. Culture Kid made our day thanks to Delta!”
