The Zimbabwe School Examination Council has announced a fixed exchange rate of ZiG13.52 per one United States dollar, for the November 2024 examinations, noting that the rate is fixed for payments made from 10 to 17 May.

The examination body reiterated that exam fees are pegged in USD, however  parents are not forced to pay in that exclusive currency, they can pay with any currency that is flexible to them.

In a notice, the national examinations body shared that payments in ZiG will therefore be paid on an equal fixed rate, thus schools and exam centres are required to adopt the announced rate for payments.

“Parents/Guardians who wish to pay registration fees in Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) are able to do so during the window of 10 May to 17 May, 2024. The interbank rate of 10 May, 2024 is to be used during this period to ensure that all candidates pay a uniform registration fee. The exchange rate is ZiG13.52 to 1 USD,” said Zimsec in a notice.

The announcement comes as the closing dates for registration nears, with local currency acceptance by the exams body coming as a relief to parents.
