Police in Gwambe, Bulilima, Matabeleland South have deserted their base citing harassment and unusual occurrences at night, with their superiors withdrawing them from the district base over fear of further endangerment.

Male officers are reported to being harassed by female goblins, their bodies being unusually violated, with local village chief who sat down with other officials warning villagers.

A councillor in ward 2, Mabed Ngulani confirming the issue, said that police have since abandoned their usual long patrols in the area, after reports of terror from goblins.

“We built a police station for the officers, and initially, they patrolled in pairs, however, they haven’t been able to stay for extended periods.

“They described being harassed, bodies being violated, doors opening on their own and things climbing on the roof, making it impossible to sleep.

“The police from Plumtree withdrew the officers from Gwambe stating they wouldn’t endanger them further,” Ngulani said.

The local chief of the area called for a meeting in the past week with police officials from Plumtree who stated their desire to withdraw their officers.

The chief is also reported to have cautioned villagers.

“Police came yesterday and said we should look for another alternative accommodation but there is no accommodation at Gwambe school, and they will be using the clinic as an office, we haven’t got accommodation, but we asked them to come back, and we see if the attacks will continue,” councillor Ngulani added.

Matabeleland South Police Inspector Loveness Mangena, who was contacted for comment and clarity by a local daily publication said she was not aware of the matter.
