A man, who allegedly lived at the complainant’s flat without his knowledge and destroyed property there, has been taken to court.
Godfrey Chininga, 40, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing unlawful entry and malicious damage to property charges.
He was ordered to appear in court on June 6.
The State alleges that from September 2023 to November 2023, at Gai Court, Harare, Chininga used an unknown object to break the complainant’s lock and enter the complainant’s flat.
He allegedly broke windows, toilet seat, burglar bars, air vent, floor tiles, toilet flash tank, toilet door, water tap and screen gate.
The court heard that Chininga was living in the complainant’s flat without his knowledge.
It is alleged that on June 3, Chininga was arrested by the police at the complainant’s flat.
The court was informed that nothing was stolen and the value that was destroyed is yet to be ascertained.
