On June 6, by invitation the 21st China medical team visited Prospect Lithium Mine to offer free medical services.
The team carried out a series of activities, including free medication, trauma first aid training, first responder training, Chinese acupuncture, and multi-disciplinary consultations.
Dr. Xu Jing, Dr. Zhang Yulong, and Dr. Chen Junpeng conducted theory and practical training on “First Responder on the Scene”.
The session covered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and trauma first aid, with on-site demonstration. During the practical phase, participants and practiced each operation repeatedly.
The acupuncture clinic, was bustling with people seeking consultations and treatments. Nyangs, 36, is a welder at the mine. Chronic back pain caused him difficulty sleeping at night and made it hard to work.
After receiving acupuncture treatment from Dr. Hu Sha and Dr. Xiao Zhiqiang of the Chinese Medicine Center, Nyangs said, “I’ve never felt so comfortable.”
The 10 doctors specializing in emergency critical care, respiratory medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, anesthesiology, pediatrics, surgery, Chinese medicine, and radiology, provided consultations to the mine workers from China and Zimbabwe.
The China medical team will carry out a series of free clinics across Zimbabwe.
They will visit mines and villages to promote first aid knowledge, assist in mine safety production, and provide practical services to the communities, benefiting the local people and contributing to the deepening of China-Zimbabwe friendship.
