Four City of Harare officials are expected in court to face charges of abuse of office over allegations of awarding a street lights tender worth over US$9,244,328.71 to a company that did not meet tender requirements.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission investigations have revealed that Never Murerwa ,62, Jabulani Mukomazi, 44, Denford Zhungu, 69, and Tawanda Mutenhabundo ,29, sat on the evaluation committee for the streetlight refurbishment project and bypassed competitive bidding processes.
The procurement was done during preparations for the SADC Summit and the quartet took advantage of exemptions from procurement regulations for project expediency.
