Tremont has no words for Chamisa as the US sets new trajectory for relations with Harare

Ambassador of the United States of America to Zimbabwe Ms. Pamela M. Tremont says her country has nothing to say to Nelson Chamisa.
"I do not have any message for Nelson Chamisa and so is neither my sending state, USA," Tremont said in response to a question during her inaugural media conference held at The Venue in Avondale this Thursday.

Signalling a new path after her country’s interference in Zimbabwe internal affairs, Tremont indicated that her country has no intention to immerse itself in the political fray.

In the past the US has given voice to the opposition supporting claims of election rigging. Harare has accused the embassy of inciting violence and actively engaging with anti-government activists.

Last year former US ambassador to Zimbabwe has written an opinion piece indicating that the US got it wrong on sanctions and needs to position itself for relevance.

When the US went on to repeal sanctions against Zimbabwe but still left 9 individuals including President Mnangagwa on their undesirables list, Harare indicated that it would only accept total removal of all restrictions.

Chamisa who disputes his loss to incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa is now in political wilderness after resigned from the Citizens for Coalition Change after Sengezo Tshabangu seized control of the party.

Chamisa formed CCC when he was dribbled out of the MDC-T by Douglas Mwonzora.

After presenting her credentials to President Mnangagwa this Wednesday. Tremont said her mandate is to work on improving relations between Washington and Harare.

Being cold shouldered by the US will certainly be a blow to the politician as he mulls his next move.
