The Zimbabwean National Team, affectionately known as the Warriors, tasted victory but not progress after the COSAFA Cup dust settled.
The Warriors entered the tournament with fire in their bellies, roaring to wins against Comoros and Zambia! Their winning streak was halted by a heartbreaking loss to Kenya, leaving them stranded in the group stages.
While their efforts clawed back some points (they now boast a mighty 1126.15!), it wasn't enough to budge them from their unfortunate position. The Warriors remain firmly planted at number 129 in the FIFA rankings, their lowest spot in eight years. Ouch!
On the bright side, they held onto their 38th position within Africa. Not bad, not bad at all.
Meanwhile, the football world celebrated the champions crowned elsewhere. Argentina, those legendary tango dancers, successfully defended their Copa America title, keeping their throne on the global ranking. Spain, the Euro 2024 victors, celebrated with a jump to third place. Looks like those flamenco steps are working for them too!
