August set to be the busiest month in 2024

National calendar events set for August have set the month to be the busiest in the country, with National Heroes’ Day on the 12th, Defense Forces Day on the 13th, together with the National Honours and Awards Conferment ceremony, making the list of events during the month.

Besides the public events being commemorated on two consecutive day boosting of three major ceremonies across the country, the 44th SADC Summit slated from August 8 to 26 will top the charts with each day having a significant slot of events. These events marking  a busy schedule for the President, government and the country as a whole.

Information minister Jenfan Muswere revealed the program schedule for both the heroes’ day which is to be commemorated at the National sports stadium together with the conferment of awards ceremony that will see  2 007 awards given to individuals who excelled in their various criteria groups. The minister also gave notice of proceedings to take place on the Defense forces day at the Rufaro  stadium, which will be preceded by a four-day Community Assistance Projects hand over and a week-long medical outreach by the ZDF.

“The National Heroes Day will be commemorated on the 12th of August 2024, at the National Heroes Acre in Harare, with provinces simultaneously holding commemorations in their respective jurisdictions. Preparation for the events are at an advanced stage,” the minister explained.

Despite there being ongoing preparations that started in the first months of the year, their schedule intensity cannot compare to August.

However August is relatively low on events with the conferment of awards ceremony being held on its designated date, that is May 14 starting next year.
