Former Hwange and GreenFuel goalkeeper Nedrick Madeya is facing a challenging period as he attempts to rediscover his best form at his new club, Herentals. The shot-stopper has endured a difficult start to the season, punctuated by injury and upheaval.

Madeya began the campaign between the sticks for GreenFuel, impressing in six matches before a three-month injury layoff curtailed his progress. Upon his return to fitness, disagreements with goalkeeper coach Innocent Chogugudza led to a mutual termination of his contract.

Seeking a fresh start, the experienced goalkeeper joined Herentals and made his debut against league leaders FC Platinum on Sunday. Despite showcasing impressive distribution skills that led to an equalizing goal for Herentals newcomer Grey Kufandada, Madeya’s defensive performance was less convincing as he conceded three goals.

The 11 goals conceded in just seven games this season paint a worrying picture for the goalkeeper, who is under pressure to improve his form and help Herentals climb the league table.
