Dynamos Football Club has announced the departure of head coach Genesis Mangombe following a disappointing performance in the current Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The Glamour Boys have struggled to find their footing this campaign, currently occupying the seventh position on the log table with a paltry 30 points from 22 matches. This is a significant 13-point deficit behind league leaders Simba Bhora.
Following an emergency meeting on Monday night, the club confirmed that Mangombe had tendered his resignation, which was subsequently accepted.
In a statement released by the club, Dynamos expressed gratitude for Mangombe's contributions during his tenure but acknowledged the need for a change at the helm.
"We wish to advise all our stakeholders that the club has gracefully accepted the resignation of Genesis Mangombe as head coach of Dynamos football club with immediate effect," the statement read. "We want to thank Mr Mangombe for the services he rendered to the club and for all the achievements that the club attained during his tenure."
To ensure a smooth transition, Lloyd "Mablanyo" Chigowe has been appointed as interim coach until a permanent replacement is found.
The departure of Mangombe comes as a major blow to the Harare giants who are under immense pressure to improve their fortunes.
The search for a new coach is expected to commence immediately as Dynamos aim to revive their season and challenge for silverware.
