The Zimbabwe Football Association social media handles no longer carry the Monday statement which called Walter Magaya’s Heart Stadium substandard following legal threats.
Magaya, through his lawyer Admire Rubaya demanded a retraction of ZIFA's normalisation committee chairperson Lincoln Mutasa’s assertion that Heart Stadium does not meet required standards for international football matches.
Magaya’s letter carried political overtones as it attacked Mutasa for criticising a project commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The ZIFA normalisation committee did not attend the commissioning event.
In May the ZIFA First Instance Board temporarily suspended Heart Stadium from hosting local league matches as the stadium had no toilets and the hired portable ones were inadequate for match day crowds.
Heart Stadium has not been certified by CAF to host international matches.
Magaya has announced plans to build more stadiums in Mozambique and Malawi.
