Ugandan man i arrested with sex toys in Masvingo lodge

New Ziana– A Ugandan national, Tom Ssekamwa, has appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court on allegations of contravening the Censorship and Entertainments Control Act after he was found in possession of some sex toys.

In a post on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said Ssekamwa was arrested on August 1 after police received a tip-off about him being in possession of sex toys at the Backpackers Rest Budget Accommodation in Masvingo.

The police searched Ssekamwa’s belongings and allegedly recovered sex toys and a lubricant for men from his bag leading to his arrest.

The case has raised questions about the laws surrounding adult sex products in Zimbabwe. Sex toys are considered taboo in Zimbabwe and not aligned with the country’s ethical standards.

The possession and use of sex toys is seen as immoral and indecent, reflecting the country’s conservative and traditional values.

The Censorship and Entertainments Control Act, under which Ssekamwa was charged, is a reflection of these values as it prohibits the possession and distribution of materials deemed obscene or indecent.
