ALKI International Private Limited director, Sharon Tokoda was defrauded of US$1 400 by a man whom she had entered into a transportation deal with.
The State alleges that on June 24, 2024, Tokoda made an advertisement in whatsapp groups that she was looking for two by 34 tonne trucks to ferry sugar from Mazabuka in Zambia to Schweppes Zimbabwe.
Mzamu then responded to Tokoda and lied that his name was Guruve Johannes and he was representing Bullrock Transport and Logistics Limited.
It is alleged that Mzamu said he had the trucks and that he had capacity to ferry the sugar.
That is when Tokoda gave US$1 400 Mzamu as fuel transport fee after having produced an identity card with the names Guruve Johannes which turned out to be fake.
Mzamu after having received the money did not perform the agreed task but disappeared.
As a result the complainant lost US$1 400.
Mzamu appeared at the Harare magistrates courts charged with fraud.
He was ordered to appear in court on August 14, 2024, for bail application.
