Dynamos interim head coach Lloyd Chigowe has identified combination play as the key to unlocking his team’s scoring potential, rather than solely relying on individual strikers.
The Glamour Boys are set to face ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Sunday and Chigowe is optimistic about his side’s chances.
Despite concerns over the team’s scoring form, the coach believes that improving interplay in the final third will yield better results.
“We need to work on our combinations in the final third. We don’t want to continue to mourn about the strikers,” Chigowe said.
The coach hinted at potential squad changes to enhance the team’s attacking options, drawing inspiration from Pep Guardiola’s tactical flexibility. “We would probably might have to register one guy and also de-register one or two other guys so that we sharpen our strike force. In football, you have to tamper around and find ways in which your team can win,” he added.
Chigowe remains confident in his team’s ability to compete and urged fans to continue supporting the team. “The fans must continue to rally behind the team. We are within a shout in every competition that we participate in. If they get behind us, I think we are unstoppable,” he concluded.
As Dynamos prepare for their continental challenge, the focus on improving attacking cohesion could be a game-changer for the Harare giants.
