The bodybuilding and fitness scene in Zimbabwe is set to ignite as the National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness officially launched the highly anticipated Zim Nationals competition on Tuesday night.
Scheduled for November 23, 2024, at the iconic 7 Arts Theatre, the event promises to be a showcase of strength, endurance, and athleticism. With eight categories on offer, athletes from across the country and beyond will compete for top honors. To ensure a fair and unbiased judging process, the federation has invited two renowned guest judges from South Africa to join the panel.
The organizers have made comprehensive arrangements to accommodate the visiting judges and the 60 athletes participating in the competition. To add to the excitement, a thrilling entertainment program featuring popular artists like DJ Fantan, Culture Love, Godfather Templeman, Ndunge Yut, and Ethaton will keep the crowd energized throughout the event.
The winner of the overall competition will receive a substantial cash prize of $3,500. Additionally, prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in each category, with amounts ranging from $200 to $500. The overall winner will receive a total of $4,000, combining the main prize with their category winnings.
In an interview, renowned Zimbabwean bodybuilder Mark shared his insights on the sport and expressed his disappointment with the current prize money. He emphasized the importance of pursuing one's passion and avoiding harmful substances, stating that his own journey began as a weightlifter before transitioning to bodybuilding. Mark revealed that he is considering retirement from competitive bodybuilding unless the promoters increase the prize money to a more substantial amount, suggesting a figure between $7,000 and $8,000.
