A Harare woman, Fortunate Manhiri, was granted legal protection from her co-wife, Mutsawashe Chapwanya, citing harassment, violence, and inappropriate behavior around their children.

Manhiri claims that Chapwanya frequently visits her home, engages in intimate acts with their husband, and creates disruptive noises, which she felt exposed their children to adult content.

She further alleged that Chapwanya used her status as the mother of one of their husband's children to harass her.

Chapwanya, in her defense, denied the accusations, claiming she is legally married to the husband and they currently live together with Manhiri.

She suggested that jealousy was the source of the conflict and accused Manhiri of initiating violence.

Chapwanya argued that Manhiri had not accepted the polygamous nature of their marriage and was trying to force her out of the house.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Ms Meenal Naratam, granted Manhiri a peace order, instructing Chapwanya to refrain from further violence.
