Zim Now journalist Munyaradzi Doma won second prize in the National AIDS Council Media Awards in the online category.
Reflecting on his achievement, Doma said: “I feel really happy and humbled to have been awarded by the National AIDS Council Media Awards. Representing my country, people living with AIDS, and the broader community is something that truly honours me.
“I’m glad that my work has been appreciated by the National AIDS Council. I’m proud to play my part as a journalist in raising awareness about HIV and AIDS issues. To my fellow colleagues who also won awards, I say congratulations.
Other Zimbabwean journalists recognised by the NAC include Brenna Matendere, who won first place, and Daphne Machiri, who secured third place in the online category for their consistent and accurate reporting on HIV and AIDS issues.
Doma added that this award is a reflection of Zim Now’s excellence, as the media house competes with long-established outlets.
Zim Now, a digital content platform, made its mark within months of its founding by winning an award at the 2022 edition of the National Journalism and Media Awards. The platform has also received content production support funding from various organisations in recognition of its quality journalism.
The website hit a major milestone in March 2024, reaching 1 million monthly readers, with its audience spread across over 180 countries worldwide.
