A leaked internal police memo has revealed that police are looking for a murder suspect and the head of a woman found dead in Manyozo Village, Chief Rusambo, Rushinga.
The body of Grace Murenza, 28, was discovered at her brother’s home by her 12-year-old daughter at around 5:30 am when the girl wanted to collect her school uniform.
The girl alerted her grandmother who called the deceased’s brother who then alerted the police.
The Memo from the Officer in Charge of Rushinga to the Officer Commanding Mt. Darwin revealed that the victim, who had been in a prolonged dispute with her estranged husband, may have been dragged to her death.
Police confirmed on X that Murenza’s estranged husband, David Meja, as a person of interest. The pair’s relationship hit a rocky patch after Manuwere was convicted of stock theft.
Manuwere allegedly called Murenza on the day of her murder saying he would come to see her.
