A man who allegedly was part of a team that rapped and stole from a 29-year-old sex worker has been taken to court.

Tinotenda Siringwani, 30, of Kambuzuma 3, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates' Courts accused of rape.

The State, through prosecutor Mercy Masamvi, alleges that on September 4, at the City Sports Bar located at corner Robert Mugabe and Kaguvi Street Harare, one Edmore Manyange who is appearing on CRB R1346/24 hired the complainant a sex worker for sexual pleasure and she agreed for US$30 after drinking beers with the accused who is already on remand and two more others still at large before going home.

Later that night, the two left for Glen Norah, and the other accused persons offered to transport them in a GD6 vehicle.

The court heard that Manyange stopped the car at Kopje hil, produced a bennet knife, which he threatened the complainant to kill her with if she screamed.

The court was informed that Siringwani and two others still at large took turns to have sexual intercourse with the complainant without any protection one after another.

The State allehes that the accused persons drove to Zuva Service station and forced the complainant to board a Probox vehicle and stole the complainant's bag which had US$60, a Ifinix Hot 10 worth US$120.

The crew that was in the Probox dumped the complainant at Rotten Row. She sought help from security guards who work at Shiptruck Investments, and they escorted her to the police.

He was ordered to appear in court on October 3, 2024.
