South African Airways has announced an increase in flight frequency between Johannesburg, South Africa, and Harare, Zimbabwe, in response to growing passenger demand.
Effective November 5, 2024, the airline will operate twelve weekly flights between the two cities, up from the current ten. This expansion is part of SAA’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence within Africa, with a focus on meeting the needs of passengers traveling between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
With the updated schedule, travelers will benefit from two additional flights departing from Harare to Johannesburg, providing more flexibility and convenience.
According to the SAA, this move is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, particularly Zimbabwean expatriates, tourists, and traders frequently commuting between the two countries.
For the Harare to Johannesburg route, passengers can choose from the following schedules:- SA25 which departs Harare at 07:20, arriving in Johannesburg at 09:00 (operating Monday to Friday); SA23 which departs Harare at 12:25, arriving in Johannesburg at 14:05 (daily).
Flights from Johannesburg to Harare are scheduled as follows: SA22, departs Johannesburg at 10:00, arriving in Harare at 11:35 (daily) and SA24 which departs Johannesburg at 20:10, arriving in Harare at 21:45 (operating Sunday to Thursday).
This increased frequency is part of SAA’s regional growth plan, aimed at catering to the rising passenger demand on key African routes.
The Johannesburg-Harare route has been identified as a crucial link between South Africa and Zimbabwe, with demand driven by economic, tourism, and trade factors.
A significant portion of this demand comes from Zimbabwean expatriates living in South Africa, along with a steady rise in tourism between the two nations.
