Martial Arts Academy Zim Ninja Hosts Awards In Honour Of Students, Stakeholders

A Harare-based martial arts Academy, ZimNinja, which is also a member of the Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) held its inaugural awards ceremony dubbed the in Harare on Saturday, November 12.

The ceremony, which ran under the theme “Celebrating Life of Success”, was   held to honour various stakeholders involved with the academy.

“The awards aimed at motivating people to push in life, encourage youth to venture into martial arts and shun substance and drug abuse as well as to refrain from violence and criminal activities.

“Above this the academy through the awards sought to contribute towards building a stronger and more disciplined society. They were a way to bring value to the efforts being done by students and stakeholders.

“Their recognition goes a long way in motivating them to do more and go an extra mile in whatever they do,” said the founder of the academy, Sensei Wilfred Mashaya.

Sensei Mashaya handed over the medals to participants of various competitions who participated in the academy for the past two years when covid -19 disrupted many sporting activities.

The honours were under three main categories namely achievement, recognition and appreciation. A total of 130 people were honoured.

“The certificate of achievement was aimed at honouring students who excelled in different disciplines of the sport through the academy. Certificates of recognition honoured ZimNinja students for their different efforts in growing the academy,  while those of appreciation were awarded to various stakeholders, such as journalists, who helped and supported ZimNinja Academy,” added Sensei Mashaya.

These medals were part of the consideration for choosing winners in the achievement category. Other considerations included the number of tournaments participated by the individual, training effort and accomplishments, contribution to the growth of the academy and discipline.

 The awardees of the Certificates of Achievement: Vincent K. Fambira (Best Student of The Year); Mitchell R. Rudanda (Female Student of The Year); Fredson Mhondiwa  (Male Student of The Year); Jason Seremwe (Chairman of The Year); Wilfred Junior Mashaya; (Best Junior Student of The Year); Virginia Chihuri (Junior Female Student of The Year); Shylock T. Nevanji (Technical Director of The Year); Christopher Garatsa (Secretary General of The Year); Thandiwe D. Chirindo (Best Coordinator of The Year); Farayi Zuva (Marketing Manager of The Year); Solomon Mandongwe (Treasurer of The Year); Panashe Munemo (Designer of The Year); David Ochieng (Advisor of The Year); Michelle N. Chagonda (Best Upcoming Female Student of The Year); Vitalis Paruzere (Team Builder Of The Year) and Curtis Zisusa (Best Upcoming Male Student of The Year).

The statement from the academy also indicated that the event was graced by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) Director of Sports Development Mr Martin Dururu who officiated as guest of honour in place of Acting Director-General Mr Sebastian Garikai.
