Zimbabwe and EU to sign two financing agreements

Zimbabwe and European Union will sign two financing agreements on Monday.

In a letter inviting media to the occasion Finance Secretary for Finance and Development Mr Clive Mphambela said Finance Minister Prof Mthuli Ncube will be hosting the signing ceremony for the two agreements.

Information Permanent Secretary Mr Nick Mangwana said this marks a thawing of relations between the EU bloc and Zimbabwe which have been frosty for two decades.

“For the first time in 22 years, the @EIBGlobal advanced money to ZiM. We are engaging at Ministerial Level,” tweeted Mr Mangwana.

He praised new EU to Zimbabwe Jobst von Kirchmann who presented his credentials to President Mnangagwa last month.

“There is also an Ambassador who seem bent on diffusing rather than stoking tensions,” said Mr Mangwana.

The EU recently appointed a local communication partner, a first for the organisation.
