Zimbabwe’s national football team, the Warriors, secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Namibia in their Group J match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Wednesday evening. The match, played behind closed doors in South Africa, was a physical affair with few clear-cut chances.

Khama Billiat’s penalty in the second half proved to be the difference between the two sides. Despite dominating possession and creating the better opportunities, Namibia failed to convert their chances.

After the match, Warriors coach Michael Nees acknowledged that his team’s performance was far from impressive. “It was a hard fight that we had anticipated because there were no spectators allowed,” he said. “We knew that it was going to be a fight; not a beauty contest, and at half-time we said okay today we also had some technical mistakes, and let’s accept. We just have to win no matter how it looks.”
