In a surprising move that has sent ripples through the football fraternity, CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe  stripped Godknows Murwira of the captaincy, handing the armband to William Manondo.

The decision was announced following the team's 2-2 draw against Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday. Chitembwe explained that while he appreciates Murwira's contributions, he believes it's time for a change in leadership.

"We're grateful for what Godknows did during his tenure as captain," Chitembwe said. "However, we feel that William Manondo is now ready to take on this responsibility. We're confident in his ability to lead the team."

Murwira, a stalwart of CAPS United, has been a key figure for the club for several seasons. While his captaincy tenure has been marked by success, Chitembwe's decision to remove him has raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike.

The timing of the change is also intriguing, coming just after the team's draw against Bulawayo Chiefs. Some have speculated that the result may have played a role in Chitembwe's decision.

Manondo, who has been a consistent performer for CAPS United, will now be expected to step up and guide the team. His appointment as captain is a significant milestone in his career, and fans will be eager to see how he handles the added responsibility.
