The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Dr. Stanford Chigumira, Director for Health Services in Zanu PF, on allegations of fraud.
According to sources, Dr. Chigumira is accused of soliciting and receiving a $500 payment from Mirriam Mverechena to facilitate securing a place for her son in the Primary Care Nurse Training Course for the September 2024 intake. However, when Mverechena's son was not admitted into the program, she reported the matter to the Ministry of Health and Child Care and ZACC, leading to Dr. Chigumira's arrest.
Dr. Chigumira, a retired colonel, has had a distinguished career in the medical field, serving as a senior medical officer in the Defence force health Services . He is also a trustee of the Agricultural Medical Aid Society and has held various positions in the medical field.
Dr. Chigumira is expected to appear at the Harare Magistrate Court tommorow
