Bindura man sentenced to 60 years for string of violent robberies

In a significant ruling aimed at deterring violent crime, the Bindura Magistrates' Court has sentenced Wiskey Tennis ,34, to 60 years imprisonment for a series of violent robberies and unlawful entries in Mashonaland Central.

Tennis targeted homes and businesses, employing a pistol and wooden stick to threaten his victims. His crime spree spanned several months, leaving a trail of fear and violence in Bindura, Concession, Chiweshe, and surrounding areas.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, one of his most notable offenses occurred in June 2024, when he invaded a residence in Greenhill, Bindura. Armed with a pistol and stick, he threatened Lindiwe Kuzondishaya and forcibly stole US$1,600.

Another incident took place on September 21, 2024, when Tennis targeted Tafadzwa Ngwenya, threatening her with the same weapons. 

He stole US$12,000 in cash, a plasma TV, an HP laptop, and a Huawei phone.
