Two men have appeared in court facing charges of armed robbery after allegedly attacking a man parked in his car at Huruyadzo Shopping Centre, making off with cash and valuables.
Joseph Bilson Makoni ,30, and Raymond Negomo Dzapasi ,37, are accused of robbing Antony Njanike on November 6, 2024. The duo is set to return to court on January 30, 2025.
According to the State, at around 8:15 PM on the day in question, the suspects, armed with blank pistols, approached Njanike in his parked car. They allegedly handcuffed him, demanded money, and stole a bag containing US$2 600, R20 000, a Samsung S23 smartphone, and two POS machines.
The court heard that the suspects fired shots into the air to disperse a crowd that had gathered before fleeing the scene. The stolen property is valued at approximately US$3 500 and R20 000.
The matter remains under investigation.
