A 32-year-old man, Tafadzwa Mudozori, has appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing fraud charges after allegedly selling a car that was not registered in the Central Vehicle Registry database.
The State alleges that on December 17, 2024, Mudozori sold a Toyota Regius to Catherine Madzore, falsely claiming that the vehicle was properly registered and listed in the CVR system.
However, it was later discovered that the car was fraudulently registered and did not appear in any official database.
In January 2025, the vehicle was stopped at a police roadblock in Beitbridge while being driven by Madzore's brother. Police checks revealed that the car was not listed in the CVR system and had both an expired license and insurance disc.
Following the discovery, the vehicle was impounded, and Madzore filed a report at ZRP Harare Central. The case was referred to the Criminal Investigations Department’s Vehicle Theft Squad (CID VTS) for further investigations.
Detectives tracked down Mudozori on January 27, 2025, leading to his arrest. The case is ongoing.
