Zim foreign policy aligns with reengagement and Pan Africanism

Zimbabwe has adopted a foreign policy doctrine aimed at strengthening its diplomatic and economic engagements globally.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, presented the framework, which aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s re-engagement drive.

The doctrine is based on six guiding principles:

Friend to All, Enemy to None

No One and No Place Left Behind

Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo (A Country is Built by its Own People)

Zimbabwe is Open for Business

Chimurenga Chepfungwa (Liberation of the Mind)

Sovereignty and Independence Forever

This new approach is expected to expand trade relations, attract investment, and reinforce Zimbabwe’s commitment to Pan-Africanism and economic sovereignty.

Zimbabwe has battled against sanctions from the US and EU and their allies for decade but relations have somewhat thawed under Mnangagwa’s rule.

On the other hand current US ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pamela Tremont has come out as hostile and aggressive and many analysts expect high volatility between Harare and Washington during Trump’s term.
