A Greendale man has appeared in court after being found in possession of cocaine.
Simbarashe Machenge, 27, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
The State alleges that on January 4, 2025, the Suburban District Police Intelligence crack team received information that Machenge was dealing in cocaine in Greendale.
At around 1 PM, police officers conducted surveillance in the area and observed Machenge walking along Wiltshire Road, Harare. He was seen approaching a parked Toyota Aqua, registration number AGN 4053.
As officers moved in and introduced themselves, Machenge was speaking to the driver of the vehicle. The driver then sped off.
A search was conducted on Machenge, leading to the discovery of eight sachets of suspected cocaine hidden in his jean trousers. He was arrested on the spot.
Upon further questioning, Machenge allegedly led police officers to his residence, where eight more sachets were recovered from a pair of black socks in his bedroom.
The seized cocaine weighed approximately 10 grams, with an estimated street value of ZiG$300.
