ZimTrade has launched the Eagles' Nest Agri-Challenge, a transformative initiative aimed at equipping youth-led agribusinesses with the tools and knowledge needed to become export-ready enterprises

. This program is not just about business growth—it seeks to integrate young people into Zimbabwe’s mainstream economy, positioning them as key drivers of agricultural innovation and economic progress.

With agriculture remaining the backbone of Zimbabwe’s economy, the challenge focuses on five key areas crucial to modern agribusiness success: sustainability, agri-tech and innovation, value addition and agro-processing, agribusiness market linkages, and climate resilience.

The program places strong emphasis on eco-friendly farming practices, training participants in organic farming, soil conservation, and sustainable pest control methods to promote long-term agricultural viability.

To modernise farming, participants will be introduced to cutting-edge technologies such as precision farming, smart irrigation systems, and AI-driven predictive analytics, ensuring they stay competitive in an evolving global market.

Recognizing the need to move beyond raw agricultural production, the initiative will train young farmers in food preservation, modern packaging, and branding strategies, helping them create market-ready agro-products for both local and international markets.

Understanding the business side of agriculture is as crucial as mastering farming techniques. The program will help participants navigate supply chains, identify new market opportunities, and develop profitable business models, ensuring their enterprises thrive.

With climate change posing a significant threat to food security, the challenge equips young farmers with drought-resistant crop cultivation techniques, water-efficient farming methods, and climate-smart strategies to safeguard their yields against environmental uncertainties.

ZimTrade believes this initiative will cultivate a new generation of innovative, resilient, and globally competitive agripreneurs, ultimately strengthening Zimbabwe’s position in the international agricultural market.
