A 39-year-old police officer, Gideon Msambakurima, stationed in Karoi, has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly defrauding the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority of fertiliser worth over US$4 700.

Msambakurima had joined the ARDA Joint Venture Farming Programme and was allocated 8 metric tons of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate fertiliser for his 20-hectare maize plot.

However, authorities accuse him of using the same batch number to fraudulently obtain an additional 6 metric tons of Windmill Ammonium Nitrate fertiliser, despite having already exhausted his original allocation.

He appeared before Provincial Magistrate Vakai Douglas Chikwekwe at the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court on February 18, 2025, where he was granted US$200 bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 4, 2025, with Brian Machekera prosecuting the case on behalf of the State.
