The Zimbabwe National Elders Forum has launched its strategic plan, a key initiative aimed at addressing challenges and harnessing opportunities for national development.

Speaking at a workshop in Harare on Wednesday, Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to peace-building and the preservation of national values through advocacy and community engagement.

“As a private entity governed by a board of trustees, the ZNEF seeks to play a critical role in fostering peace and upholding national values through advocacy, mediation, and community involvement,” said Minister Garwe.

He stated that the strategic plan outlines key objectives to strengthen nation-building efforts and enhance collaboration among stakeholders.

Minister Garwe also highlighted the ZNEF’s intention to establish partnerships with charitable organizations and mobilize community support.

“By forming strategic alliances and encouraging donations, the forum aims to support community-driven initiatives and address pressing socio-economic challenges. The ZNEF will engage consultants and advisers to refine its strategic direction and implement comprehensive insurance measures to safeguard its interests,” he said.

He added that the ZNEF will work closely with voluntary organizations, local authorities, and government agencies to advance its mandate, ensuring a coordinated approach to community development across Zimbabwe.
