Ukraine attacks Moscow in daring move

Beleaguered Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky seems determined not to go down without a whimper after Russia announced that it downed 60 drones aimed at Moscow in the night of Monday into Tuesday.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin revealed the attack in a series of Telegram posts.

He said about 11 of the drones were shot down in the Ramensky and Domodedovo districts of the Moscow region surrounding the Russian capital, while others were shot down while flying towards Moscow.

Sobyanin said there were no casualties, and the only reported damage was minor on a roof of a building in Moscow. Moscow has limited flights in and out of Moscow in reaction.

Zelensky suffered a great setback with Donald Trump's return to the US presidency. Trump has said that Vladimir Putin is the more logical of the two countries in conflict.

Trump has said Ukraine was duped into a proxy war and that Zelensky needs to accept it, and an attempt by Zelensky to get Trump in his corner ended with an explosive putdown at the White House a few days ago.

While Europe has said it will step in to help Ukraine fight off Russia, it is doubtful that Europe has the means to cover the gap left by the US. - Online sources
