Maphisa man jailed 15 years for horrific rape of young sister

A chilling case of familial betrayal has resulted in a 28-year-old man from Maphisa, Matabeleland South province, being sentenced to 15 years in prison for the repeated rape of his 12-year-old biological sister. The Gwanda magistrates' court heard harrowing details of the abuse, culminating in a swift and decisive judgment.

The court proceedings revealed that the heinous crimes occurred on two separate occasions within the family home, shattering the victim's sense of safety and trust. The first incident took place on December 24, 2024, when the perpetrator and his young sister shared the same bedroom.

"The matter was revealed when the complainant told a neighbour, who then informed the neighbourhood watch," stated the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe in a released statement.
