Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo met with opposition leader Venâncio Mondlane to discuss national unity and the country’s political future.

The meeting comes at a critical time as Mozambique grapples with economic challenges and security concerns, particularly in its northern regions.

Mondlane, who was the main opposition candidate in last year’s election, described the meeting as a response to the “appeals and aspirations of the Mozambican people,” adding that discussions will continue as part of a potential shift in the country’s political climate following a contested election.

“BY THE PEOPLE, ALWAYS. Dear Mozambicans! Brothers and sisters! HE IS WORRIED! In search of a national solution to the population's cry for help regarding the extreme insecurity the country is facing, we held a meeting with Prime Minister Daniel Francisco Chapo,” Mondlane said.

Tensions have been high since the election, with opposition groups alleging irregularities and calling for greater transparency in governance. Chapo’s administration has faced mounting pressure to address concerns about electoral integrity and political inclusion.
