Gold Deliveries in March See Slight Surge

Zimbabwe's gold deliveries registered a modest increase in March, rising to 2.79 tonnes from 2.56 tonnes in February, according to figures released by Fidelity Gold Refinery.

The uptick was largely driven by small-scale miners, who delivered 1.86 tonnes during the month—up from 1.64 tonnes in February. This marks a continued recovery for the sub-sector following a notable drop from 2.27 tonnes in January.

Primary producers maintained relatively stable output, contributing 928.8 kilograms in March, compared to 927.9 kilograms the previous month. Their production had previously risen from 868 kilograms in January.

Despite the March rebound, total gold deliveries remain below January’s peak of 3.1 tonnes. The earlier decline has been attributed to a range of challenges, including erratic power supply, limited access to capital, and ongoing smuggling activities.
