ARDA opens 2025 Winter Wheat Credit Scheme for farmers

Zimbabwe wheat crop volumes hit record

ZimNow Reporter

The Agricultural and Rural Development Authority has opened registration for its 2025 Winter Wheat Contracting Scheme, offering farmers access to inputs on credit and guaranteed markets.

The program is designed to boost national wheat production while supporting local growers with technical and financial assistance. Zimbabwe achieved a record-breaking wheat harvest of over 560,000 tonnes in the 2024 season, surpassing the previous year's production of 467,905 tonnes.

Under the scheme, ARDA will provide inputs such as seed, fertilizer, and chemicals on 100 percent credit. ARDA will deduct the input costs from earnings on sales.

Interested farmers should visit their nearest ARDA or ARDAS office to begin the registration and inspection process.

To qualify, farmers must meet the following requirements:

Working Irrigation System

National ID

Three-year wheat or crop production record

Current account statements from ZINWA and ZETDC

Land Ownership Proof—title deeds or official land documents through the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development.

Applicants who submit all required paperwork will have their farms assessed by an ARDA agronomist and an ARDA business advisor.
