Rain delays and fading light could not dim the intensity on Day Three of the first Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, as the hosts tightened their grip on the match despite a spirited comeback from the visitors.
Bangladesh closed the day at 194 for 4 in their second innings, holding a 112-run lead. Their steady progress came after a rain-hit morning that saw a delayed start and limited play.
Beginning the day slightly on the back foot, Bangladesh showed resilience at the crease, reaching 118 for 2 in 29 overs during the second session.
However, just before Tea, Zimbabwe's bowlers injected life into their campaign with two quick wickets, briefly halting the momentum. Their disciplined lines put Bangladesh under pressure, offering a glimmer of hope for a comeback.
The day wasn’t without controversy. Fans and analysts questioned Zimbabwe's tactical choices—particularly the limited use of spinner Wellington Masakadza. "What value does Wellington Masakadza bring to this team?" posted @BhuruReMasvingo on social media. Another user, @MintuKumar, added, “I think Zimbabwe captain has lost mind, when will call Masakadza bowl attack.”
Despite these concerns, Zimbabwe’s bowlers showed heart in challenging conditions. But Bangladesh remain in a commanding position heading into Day Four, with six wickets in hand and a strong lead.
